Real Wedding: An Amalfi Coast Wedding with Breathtaking Views and a Charlotte Balbier Wedding Dress
Laura wore a gorgeous Charlotte Balbier wedding dress, choosing the chiffon material especially as it suited the sunny climate of their wedding.
With such a show-stopping and unique venue, the couple kept their decor simplistic, leaving the amazing views to do the talking.

Andy chose Edinburgh Castle as the backdrop for his proposal, getting down on one knee in May of 2014.

"I remembering worrying about getting the timing right, finding a nice spot and trying to wait until nobody was about, it was quite stressful!" Andy reminisces.

"It was such a weight off my shoulders to finally pop the question, and I was so glad Laura liked the ring too."

READ MORE: How to choose the perfect engagement ring
The Italian wedding venue
Andy and Laura held their wedding ceremony at Giardini della Principessa di Piemonte on the Amalfi Coast, following by their reception at Villa Cimbrone, both in the town of Ravello.

"We both love being near the sea and we quite fancied a smaller wedding than many we’ve been to over the years, so thought maybe we should do it abroad," says Andy.

"We love Italian food and discovered that getting married in Italy was accepted as legal in the UK, so we wouldn’t need to do it all again in the UK."

"Strangely enough, we were watching Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon in The Trip to Italy on TV and they visited the most beautiful villa on the Amalfi Coast. We instantly thought “I wonder if you can get married there?” so looked into it and the rest is history."

"We asked our friends and family to see if they’d be game, and they were all totally up for it. That really helped us make our minds up. It was a very quick process really!"

READ MORE: How to throw a flawless Italian wedding
Andy and Laura held their ceremony overlooking the sea, treating guests to show stopping views over the ocean.

"My sister-in-law played a beautiful piece on the flute while we signed the register, which was lovely. Other than that it was a very relaxed, family orientated affair," explains Andy.

"Decoration wise, we had simple white chairs, with white rose petals down the aisle," says Laura. "The stunning views and the flowers in the garden were all that was needed."

After the ceremony the wedding party walked through the streets of Ravello, so they could all experience the dramatic coastline.
The couple carried their minimalistic aesthetic through to their reception.

"The beautifully lit crypt which opened out onto lush gardens and views of the Amalfi Coast meant we really didn't need any decorations," says Andy.

"The venue was so spectacular and unlike anything else we'd seen that it almost felt like putting our stamp on it would've been a bit of an insult."
Wedding table decorations
"Our centrepieces were white floral arrangements," says Laura.

'I chose flowers as our centrepieces, not only because they are beautiful but it also saved us transporting centrepieces over from the UK."

READ MORE: Wedding table decorations and centre pieces: 25 interesting ways to dress up your tables
The wedding dress
Laura purchased her Charlotte Balbier Lillie Mae dress from Boa Boutique in Richmond.

The dress was a deep ivory chiffon gown, with a lace bodice and capped sleeves, and Laura added a jewelled belt for a little extra sparkle.

"It had all the elements I wanted and felt comfortable and classic," Laura says. I knew the chiffon skirt would be perfect in hot weather."
The groom's suit
Andy wore a royal blue three-piece suit by Jeff Banks, purchased from Debenhams, complemented by a white shirt, a burgundy tie, Italian flag cufflinks and tan shoes from Dune.

"I knew what colour suit I wanted, so it was a case of wandering the shops until I found one I liked, in my size, that didn't cost a fortune."

READ MORE: Blue wedding suits for the groom
The bridal party and best men
Laura loves maroon, so despite having a summer wedding, she chose the shade as the colour for her bridal party to wear.

"We only went on one shopping trip for the bridal party dresses, and found these Biba ones straight away at House of Fraser. It was clear that they were the ones!" says Laura.

Rather than ushers, Andy opted to have four best men, and they all wore dark blue two-piece suits from M&S.
The bridal bouquet
"I love roses so I knew I wanted to have them in my bouquet," says Laura.

"It was made up of burgundy roses, and the bridesmaids' bouquets were white and pink with touches of maroon."
The wedding cake
"We didn't have a chance to do a cake testing, but the the restaurant at Villa Cimbrone made the cake," says Laura.

"I wanted a cake that was light and with no marzipan. Our wedding planner Fede from The Italian Wedding Event sent us a number of pictures and we opted for a simple sponge cake with Chantilly cream, strawberries and decorated with fruit."

"When we saw it at the reception it was gigantic but beautiful! The portion size must have been huge. We decorated it with a simple “Just Married’ decoration from Paperchase."

READ MORE: How to choose the perfect wedding cake
The most memorable moment
"Looking back now, the fact that our family and friends went all that way to be with us on our big day really hits home and I’m so, so grateful," says Andy.

"Walking into Ravello town square and the locals and tourists cheering and congratulating us just felt amazing too. We felt like superstars!" adds Laura.
Advice for other couples
"Go with your gut," says Laura.

"We had our wedding in a venue we’d only seen online/ on TV, chose food without trying it, picked suppliers through recommendations, but it all worked out perfectly!"
