Real Wedding: A Relaxed and Fun Day in the Swiss Mountains
Alice wore a beautiful Diane Harbridge wedding dress, while her bridal party were given free rein over what they wore.
This relaxed attitude was felt through out the day, never more so than during the ceremony when guests were invited to sit on quilts, handmade by Alice's mum.

Getting married in Switzerland
Alice and George decided to hold their wedding ceremony atop a mountain in Switzerland, and their reception at <a href="http://www.virginlimitededition.com/en/the-lodge" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">The Lodge in Verbier</a>, as it was where they met. <br /><br /><br />
The outdoor wedding ceremony
Alice and George held their wedding ceremony outdoors, surrounded by handmade bunting.<br /><br />"Instead of seats our guests all sat on quilts handmade by my mum, which was so cosy," says Alice.<br /><br />Instead of a <a href=" http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk/ideas/mood-boards/19-wedding-arches-to-inspire-your-big-day-decor/22709.html" target="_self">traditional wedding arch</a>, the couple had two vintage skis topped with bunting that they stood under. <br /><br /><a href=" http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk/planning/venues/ideas-for-outdoor-and-woodland-weddings/20535.html" target="_self">READ MORE: Ideas for outdoor wedding ceremonies</a>
Handmade wedding stationery
The homemade theme carried through to the wedding stationery, which Alice designed and hand painted.
Wedding table decorations
"Instead of <a href=" http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk/planning/essentials/32-unique-name-card-ideas-for-your-wedding/22218.html" target="_self">wedding name cards</a> we had laser cut birds which sat on the wine glasses and made the table look so pretty," says Alice. "I wrote the names on them in calligraphy pen."<br /><br />"The wedding favours were miniature bottles of blackberry brandy, made with my grandfather John's recipe. He sadly passed away a few years ago so my grandmother Beryl spent months making the brandy with blackberries grown in her garden."<br /><br /><a href=" http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk/dresses-and-style/guests/best-ways-to-remember-lost-loved-ones-at-your-wedding/21020.html" target="_self">READ MORE: The best ways to remember lost loved ones at your wedding</a> <br /><br />
The wedding dress
Alice wore a <a href=" http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk/dresses-and-style/wedding-dresses/gorgeous-diane-harbridge-wedding-dresses/22043.html" target="_self">Diane Harbridge</a> wedding dress, with the designer herself recommending the specific dress. <br /><br />"My wedding dress was very light, and had a beautifully soft and silky feel to the skirt, with delicate lace and tiny pearls on the top," explains Alice. "It was so comfortable. I danced all night in it!"
Mismatched bridesmaid dresses
Alice took the trend for <a href="http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk/dresses-and-style/bridesmaids-flowergirls/gorgeous-mix-and-match-bridesmaid-dresses/22287.html" target="_self">mix and match bridesmaid dresses</a> to a new level, letting each bridesmaid choose her own dress.<br /><br />"They all have such different personalities, so it seemed pointless to even try and find something that would suit everyone," explains Alice. <br /><br />The bride and her dad drove up the mountain in his military jeep, which he'd spent the summer renovating especially for the day, and driven all the way to Switzerland on a trailer - it was even the car Alice learnt to drive in!
The groom's attire
The groom and groomsmen wore dark <a href="http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk/dresses-and-style/grooms/suave-blue-wedding-suits-for-the-groom-what-real-grooms-wore/22357.html" target="_self">blue wedding suits</a> by <a href="http://www.tedbaker.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Ted Baker</a>, with pink ties from <a href="http://www.libertylondon.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Liberty</a>, complemented with brown tan shoes. <br /><br />
The processional song
Alice and her dad walked down the aisle to Walk of Life by Dire Straits.<br /><br />"It's our special song and it was a surprise to him," explains Alice. <br /><br /><a href=" http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk/planning/entertainment/30-processional-aisle-songs-that-will-have-the-groom-in-tears/21207.html" target="_self">READ MORE: 30 processional aisle songs that will have the groom in tears</a>
The wedding cake
Alice's sister made the white wedding cake as a surprise.<br /><br />"She's very traditional and was upset when she learnt we were only having a <a href=" http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk/planning/cakes/cool-cheese-wedding-cakes/22114.html" target="_self">cheese wedding cake</a>, so she made us a two-tier wedding cake too," shares Alice.
The most memorable moment of the day
"George's speech was very memorable for me," says Alice. "He said things he has never said i never even imagined he thought, so it was very touching!"
Advice for other couples
"Do what you want, it's your day!" advises Alice. "Keep it small, simple and just relax."<br /><br /><a href=" http://www.youandyourwedding.co.uk/planning/weddings-abroad/top-10-tips-for-planning-a-destination-wedding/21027.html" target="_self">READ MORE: Top 10 tips for planning a destination wedding</a>
