Home Planning Mood boards and pretty themes Wedding theme: beautiful blush and gorgeous grey for a spring big day return to landing page 4 of 19 The inspiration It's a colour palette that's taking the interiors world by storm - a pretty shade of blush paired with elegant grey - and now as this gorgeous styled shoot shows, it's the perfect scheme for an elegant spring wedding. "I used a delicate and simple palette of pale blush tones and soft grey as, for me, it's the epitome of grown-up femininity and the perfect companion to British blooms," says Louise Hughes, wedding designer and stylist at onestylishday.com. The inspiration "I was inspired by wild, overgrown English gardens where flowers grow freely, wherever they choose, seeped in light," says Louise. The flowers Flowers were key to creating this light spring look: "Dainty poppies, frilly garden roses and delicately scented sweetpea were mixed in with foliage picked from the hedgerows in a natural and romantic style, with touches of dove grey senecio foliage and silver speckled poppy heads," says Louise. "All the blooms were grown in Cheshire and arranged in a loose and ethereal way to add softness and romance to the table, with trailing foliage weaving in between the candles, glasses and cakes as if they had been simply growing there when we set the table." The flowers The flowers The table setting Louise incorporated the base colour of grey into the look using smart table linens. "I used a base of pale grey linen and then layered it with a soft, fragile, silk table runner in a delicate blush tone," she says. "Organic and irregular crockery was draped with silk blush napkins for a laid back feel and contrasted with antique silver crockery. Cut glassware and candlesticks allowed free flowing light, while calligraphy on vellum stock continued the concept of air and space." Finished with flower heads and plump blackberries for a fresh, English garden wedding," says Louise.
