Yeah I know it's overly expensive, I am looking into doing it with plumbing pipes but I've never tried anything like that before, so I'm a bit nervous. But willing to try!

Could you not buy just a standard hanging rail from Argos or Ikea, spray it copper, and just put the floral bits over the joins so it looks seamless? You can buy a cheap hanging rail for about 6 quid.

I can't remember who it was, but someone on here made a really good photobooth backdrop from a hanging rail.

I could, but I'd like something elegant that I can display proudly in the future, so I'd have to find one that I really like, so I will have a look. I like the idea of building my own.. my friend has built her own rails in her spare bedroom so I'm sure between us we could make a solid freestanding structure!

In other news, no makeup day today because I'm stuck in bed with an absolutely horrendous cold (which was bad yesterday but then I had a full evening chamber music recital and used up literally all remaining energy and so am now in full swamp-monster non-breathing blocked-sinusy state of self pity). So I'm browsing all things wedding on Pinterest and eating what's left of the cake I made for Ralph before he went away (chocolate, Chambord cream, chocolate buttercream and fresh raspberries- thinking this could be a good flavour for one of our wedding cake tiers hmmm) in bed, looking longingly at my new sparkly eyeshadows.

For reference.. On days like these wedding diet goes very much out of the window.

Cake doesn't really go with lemsip.

(Sorry for the self indulgent rant!)

I thought it would be good to have a chocolate tier so I'm thinking we'll probably go with that!

When I'm feeling sorry for myself I always spend money.. oops.. but I was browsing Etsy and wanted up buying a new headpiece, to change into with my second dress. The one I have is quite subtle, and with the veil that's perfect but I wanted something with more oomph for the change so I ordered something that's very similar but a bigger and more dramatic version from TheWeddingBellsShop. If it arrives and it isn't as nice as I thought I'll just sell it on or something, it wasn't that expensive at all so it's not a disaster if it doesn't live up to expectations!

So it's a more dramatic version of the one I have, but I might even combine the two to make it even more 😁 we'll see.. this is what I have already:

Could be super amazing and sparkly twisted together, eeee!! Can't wait for it to arrive.

Someone asked me the other day if I'm having a garter and I don't know. I quite like the idea of one (partly coz I found a pretty one that I want), but certainly not for a traditional garter toss type situation; can't think of anything worse than Ralph retrieving that in front of everyone 😮

Is anybody else having one?

I'd never seen or heard of a garter toss before this forum, and I've been to a lot of weddings! I really think it's a US thing. I'll probably wear one but there will be no garter toss - beyond tacky IMO.

Yeah I can't imagine anything more cring-worthy! I think I'll get the one I like, it's not too expensive so if I decide against it it's not the end of the world.

I’ve seen some really pretty garters so think I’ll get one but no way would do a garter toss. The thought of my parents and grandparents watching my husband put his head up my dress and take off underwear with his teeth makes me feel ill to be frank!

Yep exactly! To be honest the idea of ANYONE watching that makes me feel ew. I told H2B that's a tradition for some people and his horrified face said it all 😂.

That's a really nice idea :). Unfortunately I'm the first one in my generation of the family and of my friends to get married so I can't borrow one from one of them! I'm really hoping to find something like a ring or a brooch I can add to my bouquet as my something old and something borrowed, belonging to my mum or a grandmother. My shoes are my something blue (super bright intense irridescent something blue hehe) and most of what I have is new so they're covered.

My new headpiece arrived and I really wish my camera could capture how sparkly it is! 😍 I'm definitely going to try and combine them at some point .

Gotta love Etsy!

Thanks :D I'm really thrilled for £30 something (35? 36? Something like that!).

I've rescheduled make-up session with my bridesmaid for Friday so I might take them then and we can experiment with my hair too, although it really needs a cut so it won't be exactly right but we can attempt anyway!

Hen party organiseration is starting super early as most of us are musicians and dates tend to get booked up really far in advance, and my MOH created a survey of different things like budget, dates, different activities people can say they like particularly or don't like, physical problems people have that would affect them being able to participate in things, dietry requirements, hard no's/fears etc.. she's doing a great job already and said she's going to plan a weekend of different activities so people who struggle a bit budget wise or really don't want to partake in something or aren't free for all of it can join in when they want :) which sounds great because it means my mum can dip in and out for the things that won't be too cringey. What she has suggested sounds fantastic and I'm so lucky to have her and all my lovely bridesmaids :)
